One of the most profound and oddly complex things I learned from my arts internship through HECUA last year is that everything is fodder, and everything will inform my art.

I’m just now discovering that my administrative office job is having a strong effect on my artistic process - everything is more regimented, and I’m using all kinds of skills from my job for my artwork. It’s very bizarre.

Highly Abridged Fairy Stories vol. 1

Trungles has put together a small collection of highly abridged fairy tales, each complete with its own hand-drawn illustration. Now available for roughly the price of a medium-to-large-sized frou-frou drink at your favorite coffee spot. 

Volume 1 of the Abridged Fairy Stories zine explores the more problematic, subliminal themes of fairy tales as retold by the author and illustrator after he’s had a little bit to drink.*

*Drawings were completed in stone-cold sobriety - the artist does not wish to overtly encourage the consumption of alcohol while art-making, but will gladly put the idea out there if it happens to speak to anyone on a personal level.

Married couple wears matching outfits for 35 years

It started when Nancy Featherstone made a shirt for herself with the leftover fabric from a shirt she made for her husband, Donald. They started wearing matching outfits on the weekends and enjoyed dressing that way so much that Nancy proceeded to make two complete seasonal wardrobes of matching men’s and women’s items, from sweaters to coats.

Also, Donald is the artist who designed the plastic garden flamingo. Accordingly, Nancy says she buys flamingo fabric whenever she finds it and they have a special closet filled with over 40 flamingo outfits.
